Great Tips for Snowmobile Safety on trails

Snowmobile safety is always a “top of mind awareness” issue with the snowmobile community.


​The Susquehanna County Snowmobilers' Association will once again be having it's PA approved snowmobile safety training program this year. You must register for the class and can either submit online form to right or contact instructor Brian Cobb directly at 570-396-7227. There is no cost for the class and breakfast and lunch are provided. The class is required for anyone under the age of 16 who rides off of their parents property but is great information for any beginner or even a refresher for experienced riders. The class will cover Preparing to Ride, Riding Your Snowmobile, Improving Your Riding, Riding Safely and Responsibly, Preparing for the Unexpected and Observing Snowmobile Laws in Pennsylvania.

In memory of Gordon "Gordy" Shultz

Gordon H. Shultz, 59, of Montrose, PA passed away unexpectedly, Monday, May 4, 2015 in Brooklyn, PA. Born May 21, 1955 in Binghamton, NY, he was the son of the late Leonard H. “Whitey” Shultz and Leona M. [Knapp] Shultz.  At the time of Gordy’s passing, he was employed as a monument installer for Broome, Ithaca and Montrose Monument Companies, a subsidiary of Myer Memorials. In past years, he owned and operated 167 North Auto with his father Whitey.  Gordy was involved in the Susquehanna County Snowmobile Association, and the New York State ATV Drag Racing Association. Snowmobiling was one of Gordy's favorite pastimes traveling thousands of miles on his sled and grooming hundreds of miles of trails in Susquehanna County. Gordy was also known for his 1923 Track T Roadster, enjoying cruise-ins, car shows, participating in numerous parades and winning several awards.  Survivors include his sister, Diana Kane of Montrose, PA, brothers & sisters-in-law, Gary A. & Judy Shultz of Montrose, PA, Louie D. Shultz & Donna L. Lewin of Dingmans Ferry, PA, Clayton L. & Dawn Shultz of Montrose, PA, aunt, Dorethea Shultz, his beloved companion dog, Rev and several nieces & nephews.  Please go to bartronmyerfuneralhome.com for directions or to leave online condolences for the family.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday at the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose, PA.
Instead of flowers: memorial contributions may be made to True Friend's Animal Welfare, 16332 SR 706, Montrose, PA 18801 where he adopted his beloved dog, Rev.
